This is a reminder that the Morgan Hill Community Garden is a year-round garden. This month it will be time to determine when to take out the summer plants and what and when to plant to maintain your plot for the fall, winter, and early spring months.
(Note that some of the summer plants are getting too large and are hanging over the plot edge. They need to be cut back and all pathways need to be kept clear.)
If you attend the class at 9 am this Saturday morning, 9/3, you will have an opportunity to learn what to do at this time of year and there will be cover crop available.
Please note that our water use was extremely high this month. Always check your soil BEFORE watering and only water if the plants really need the water. If you get to the garden and touch the soil or use the moisture meter (lower than #5), don’t water if the soil is still moist or the meter shows it is still moist enough to go for another day or two.
Thank you for keeping our garden looking good year-round. This is a good opportunity to explore growing cool-weather crops. Attached are some vegetable planting guides for your reference.
