We’ve noticed  some adult Bagrada bugs around the Garden today.  What is this?  It’s an introduced invasive pest that has few natural predators and is difficult to control once it gets started. Here is some more detailed information from UC.

We had bad infestations before at the old garden and last year at the new location. It particularly is attracted to plants in the Mustard family (Sweet Alyssum,  Kale, Broccoli, and cauliflower). If you have these plants in your plot, please consider removing them soon.

These bugs will eventually find them and reproduce like a biblical plague, killing the plants: there’s no point in keeping these host plants in place much longer.  Plants you remove can still be chopped up and composted in your plot or placed in the compost bin.
